Fort Wayne Back Pain Relief via Chiropractic Treatment Plan of Manipulation and Exercise
A new clinical trial is underway to study the effectiveness of a 6-week specific rehab program combining education and exercises on walking capacity in those who have lumbar spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication. Aaron Chiropractic Clinic knows these Fort Wayne spinal pain conditions very well…and delivers a relieving treatment plan of Cox® Technic spinal manipulation and mobilization with exercise!
EXERCISE PROGRAM FOR LUMBAR SPINAL STENOSIS TESTED
The aim of this described study is to investigate whether the addition of an exercise program to an educational program can improve walking capacity in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication. Being a randomized controlled clinical trial, 60 participants will be randomly put in either the intervention or control group. The intervention group will receive an educational program plus an exercise program, while the control group will only get the educational program. The main outcome measure is walking capacity, while the secondary outcome measures are pain intensity, disability level, and quality of life. (1) Aaron Chiropractic Clinic knows our Fort Wayne spinal stenosis patients are very concerned about these outcomes!LUMBAR SPINAL STENOSIS WITH NEUROGENIC CLAUDICATION
Lumbar spinal stenosis with neurogenic claudication is a spinal issue that causes narrowing of the spinal canal in the low back area, resulting in pressure on the nerves. This can result in pain, numbness, and weakness in the legs and buttocks. In really bad cases, it can also make walking quite difficult. The condition is a very common one in people over 50 years old. These are just the people in Fort Wayne who need to keep (or at least begin) exercising!
THE EXERCISES
The specific exercises that will be employed in this trial are made to enhance walking capacity by stretching and strengthening the muscles around the spine. The hope is that by performing these exercises on a regular basis, patients will experience less pain and disability and have a better quality of life.
THE CONTROL GROUP
The control group in this trial will only get an educational program about their condition and how to control it. While education is valuable, it is not typically enough on its own to provide significant relief from symptoms. That is why adding exercise is so significant. It involves the back pain patient in his or her relief!
