Fort Wayne Exercise for Back Pain Relief: Whats Best? Good Question!

The long-standing chiropractic client question: “What is the best exercise I can do to get rid of this back pain?”

We all want the one “correct” answer to make things better. We like to “just do it” and be finished. Recognizing just what the right thing is is the problem even for researchers and for your Fort Wayne chiropractor. The secret for all involved – researcher, doctor, patient – is getting to know the patient. Aaron Chiropractic Clinic gets to understand each of our back pain patients to know better which exercise(s) may be most beneficial. Our chiropractic services are here to help.

WHAT TO DO?

Researchers grapple with knowing what the right back pain easing exercise(s) is, also. A few researchers reviewed 118 back pain exercise trials with 9710 volunteers. They found that the most effective exercise types for getting rid of pain were mind-body, core-based exercise, and Pilates. They found that the most effective means to decrease disability were Pilates, core-based, and strength exercises. According to a unique scoring system called SUCRA which determines the rates the probability of an approach’s being effective revealed that Pilates ranked highest with 93% for likelihood of reducing pain and 98% for reducing disability. (1) Aaron Chiropractic Clinic will agree that those are impressive effectiveness scores!

BUT WHAT ABOUT…?

Other studies highlight the effectiveness of other exercises, too. An analysis of 89 studies/5578 patients devoted to establishing the effectiveness of exercise for non-specific chronic low back pain explained that Pilates had the highest probability of decreasing pain, resistance training and stabilization/motor control exercise for improving physical function, and resistance and aerobic training for enhancing mental health. (2) Pilates came out ahead again! Then, in a 414 chronic low back pain patient study, core stability exercise decreased pain more and improved function better than general exercise. (3) And for back pain sufferers with a lumbar disc herniation, stretch and strength-based yoga showed itself to be a likely option to improve related neuropathic pain, disability, and function in these patients by boosting mobilization, core muscle strength, and hamstring flexibility. (4) Aaron Chiropractic Clinic doesn’t want to perplex you or lead you astray! We’ll just urge you to try a few of our recommendations and see how good they make you feel.
